CFA and other global finance qualifications

The CFA Program has three levels covering investment analysis, portfolio management and ethics. CFA Institute states that exams start at USD 1,140 each and that completing all three levels costs USD 3,520 to 4,570 depending on whether you register in the early or standard period (CFA Institute site, Oct 2026). Exam windows are usually in February, May, August and November, and rescheduling within a window costs USD 250 (CFA Institute site, Oct 2026). Local taxes are added at checkout.

Other charters often studied in Dubai include the FRM (financial risk) from GARP and CISI qualifications in wealth management and securities. If you plan to work for a firm licensed by the UAE capital market regulator, check which CISI exams your role needs, because the regulator ties specific CISI exams to specific roles (see below).

Some Dubai degrees are part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. UOWD lists its Bachelor of Business (Finance) and Master of Applied Finance (Investing) in that program, which means the curriculum covers a large share of the CFA body of knowledge.

Banking, treasury and risk management courses

The Emirates Institute of Finance is the UAE's banking and finance training institute, with campuses in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Its certification list includes AML and CFT compliance, credit analysis, wealth management, treasury management and risk management, plus on-demand certifications in health insurance, fintech and trade finance. It names the Chartered Banker Institute, AAOIFI, EC-Council and CFTE as partners for joint certifications. Fees are not published; the institute asks applicants to contact it.

ADGM Academy in Abu Dhabi runs schools covering banking and finance, treasury, wealth and asset management, taxation and sustainable finance, including a three-day programme supporting the CISI Level 3 Certificate in Wealth and Investment Management.

For corporate treasury management at degree level, UOWD offers a Master of Applied Finance (Corporate Treasury). Risk management courses tied to anti-money laundering and governance are in AML and compliance courses in Dubai.

Courses for capital market and investment jobs

Since 1 January 2026 the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) operates as the Capital Market Authority (CMA), under Federal Decree-Laws No. 32 and 33 of 2025. Its Professional Training and Examinations Centre (PTEC) runs exams prepared with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). These include UAE Financial Rules and Regulations, Introduction to Securities and Investment, Risk in Financial Services, Global Financial Compliance, Combating Financial Crime, Derivatives and Corporate Finance Technical Foundations.

Under the regulator's licensing regime, specific roles at licensed firms need specific CISI exams combined with the UAE Financial Rules and Regulations exam. Ask your employer or the regulator which ones apply before paying for a prep course. For personal investing and trading education, see stock market and trading courses in Dubai.

Fintech and blockchain courses

Fintech and blockchain courses in Dubai range from short certifications to master's study. UOWD offers a Master of Applied Finance (Financial Technology). The Emirates Institute of Finance lists an on-demand fintech certification and partners with CFTE for joint certifications. For the technical side of blockchain and AI, see AI courses in Dubai and programming courses in Dubai.

A fintech or blockchain course does not licence you to promote crypto or other virtual assets. Since 2025 people who post investment recommendations about regulated UAE financial products online need a finfluencer licence from the capital market regulator.

Accredited universities in the UAE for finance

If you want a degree rather than a certificate, check that the university is properly licensed. At federal level, the UAE's higher education ministry licenses private higher education institutions and accredits their programmes through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). In Dubai's free zones, such as Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City, branch campuses are permitted by KHDA, which also licenses private training institutes in Dubai.

The difference matters if you will work in the UAE public sector or need degree equivalency, which generally requires a federally recognised qualification. For a KHDA-approved finance course, ask the institute for its KHDA permit and the exact course approval, because a permit covers listed activities only.

Examples of finance degrees in Dubai Knowledge Park include UOWD's Bachelor of Business (Finance) and its Master of Applied Finance in four specialisations: Investing, Financial Services, Financial Technology and Corporate Treasury. How to choose a finance training course

  1. Start from the job. Bank roles value banking certifications and the Chartered Banker route; investment firms value CFA and the regulator's CISI exams; corporate finance values CMA, CIMA or a finance master's.
  2. Check the licence. Dubai training institutes need a KHDA permit; universities need CAA accreditation or a KHDA permit in a free zone.
  3. Check the awarding body. A certificate from the provider alone carries less weight than one from CFA Institute, CISI, the Chartered Banker Institute or a university.
  4. Budget for the full cost. Tuition, exam fees, membership and retakes. Global exam fees are usually in USD or GBP.
  5. Match the schedule. Most professionals choose evening, weekend or blended formats. Ask for the full timetable before paying.
  6. Ask about employer funding. Banks often sponsor staff through sector institutes, so check with HR first.

Short-term finance courses: budgeting, revenue and cash flow

Short courses in budgeting, revenue management, cash flow management, financial analysis and feasibility studies are mostly 1 to 5 day corporate workshops held in hotels or training centres, often in English and Arabic. They are useful when your employer pays and you need a specific skill, but they are not professional qualifications. Revenue management in hotels is a separate skill covered in hospitality courses in Dubai. For a wider list of short options, see short courses in Dubai.

Questions and answers

How much does the CFA exam cost?

CFA Institute states exams start at USD 1,140 each and all three levels cost USD 3,520 to 4,570, depending on early or standard registration (CFA Institute site, Oct 2026). Local taxes are extra.

What is the Emirates Institute of Finance?

How do I check if a university in the UAE is accredited?

Check the federal Commission for Academic Accreditation list for federally accredited programmes, or KHDA for Dubai free-zone branch campuses. Ask the university which applies to your exact programme.

Do I need an exam to work at an investment firm in the UAE?

Specific roles at firms licensed by the Capital Market Authority need specific CISI exams plus the UAE Financial Rules and Regulations exam. DIFC and ADGM firms follow their own regulators' competency rules.

They are useful for a defined skill such as budgeting or cash flow forecasting. They do not replace a professional qualification, so check the provider's KHDA permit and the course content first.
